In Karelia, Russia, a Su-30 military aircraft crashed during a training flight. The crew died at the scene.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the multirole fighter was conducting a scheduled training flight when the crash occurred. The region where the tragedy happened borders Finland. This is not the first case of a Russian military aircraft accident this year; in July, a Su-34 fighter-bomber crashed in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
Experts note that such incidents may indicate issues with the safety and maintenance of Russia’s aircraft fleet. Similar accidents highlight the vulnerability of the Russian armed forces amid increasing tensions with the West. Although official sources try to downplay the significance of such events, they nevertheless raise concerns about the overall combat readiness and capability of Russian military aircraft to perform missions.
