The Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have announced new opportunities for foreign volunteers, allowing them to choose combat brigades and service directions according to their experience and skills.
According to the military statement, the formats introduced in 2022 successfully integrated foreigners during the most critical period of the country’s defense. However, now, considering changes at the front and in the structure of the Defense Forces, it has become necessary to refine the approach to engaging foreign volunteers.
The key principle of the new model is the most effective use of foreigners’ experience, motivation, and professional skills in those units where they are most needed. This will allow them to choose brigades, directions, and specifics of application according to their training and preferences.
This reform ensures better integration, providing equal opportunities with Ukrainian fighters, as well as more effective use of human resources. In October 2024, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine authorized foreigners and stateless persons to hold officer positions in the Defense Forces, emphasizing the importance of international support in the country’s defense.
