Europe has no desire to defend its principles, but it has reasons for a tougher fight with Russia – Czech leader

Czech President Petr Pavel, in an interview with The Times, stated the need for tougher measures against Russian aircraft and drones that violate European airspace. He emphasized the importance of collective efforts to defend Western values and principles.

Speaking about the frequent occurrence of Russian aircraft and drones over Europe, Pavel, the former head of NATO’s Military Committee, noted that the West should be prepared for decisive actions, up to shooting down violators. According to him, such provocations are a deliberate test of the resilience of Western air defense.

The Czech President pointed out the lack of collective courage in Western countries, which is reflected both in their approach to Ukraine and in their reaction to Russian incidents. He stressed that this situation is a significant test of NATO’s readiness for self-defense.

Additionally, Czechia emphasizes the critical importance of preparing Western armies for wars similar to the current one in Ukraine. This, according to the head of the defense company Czechoslovak Group, is an important lesson learned from the Russian invasion.
