Ukraine plans to sign cooperation agreements in the field of drones with seven NATO countries by the end of 2026, including the transfer of technology, experience, and knowledge. Six agreements have already been concluded with the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, Latvia, and Lithuania.
According to Ukraine’s Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, David Aloyan, these agreements include not only the supply of drones but also comprehensive support in creating effective air defense systems, such as radars, sensors, ground stations, and control systems. Middle Eastern countries are particularly interested in Ukraine due to the threat of drone attacks similar to those used in the region by Israel and Iran.
After the situation in the Middle East escalated, when countries faced Iranian drone attacks, the “Drone Deal” system proposed by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky gained popularity. It envisages protection against massive drone attacks and includes technologies developed during the conflict with Russia.
Expert assessment indicates that in the context of current geopolitical tensions, cooperation with Ukraine could strengthen the security of allies located near Russia. This is particularly relevant for NATO, where several countries have already expressed their interest in cooperation. Some new agreements are expected to be signed this week at the NATO summit in Ankara.
