On January 28, 2026, Borodyanka in the Kyiv region became the second locality in Ukraine where 5G network testing was launched. This step is part of a comprehensive recovery of the village, the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine reported.
Testing in Borodyanka became possible with the support of Minister Oleksiy Kuleba. The trials are expected to last at least until December 2026. Earlier, 5G technology began to be tested in Lviv, and in the future, the project is planned to expand to Kharkiv, Kyiv, and Odesa, subject to the completion of martial law.
The 5G network development plan was approved by the government of Ukraine back in 2020. However, due to the full-scale invasion, the implementation of the technology was postponed. The project resumed in pilot format in 2025, after receiving all the necessary approvals from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The implementation of 5G in Ukraine is of great importance, as the new generation connection can significantly improve mobile internet speed, promote the development of digital services, and stimulate economic growth. Experts believe that successful testing in Borodyanka could be the foundation for a large-scale implementation of the technology across the country.
