A new round of negotiations: the Ukrainian delegation is already heading to Geneva.

Ukraine, USA, and Russia will hold a new round of negotiations on February 17-18 in Geneva. The Ukrainian delegation has already arrived at the venue, reported the head of the President’s Office, Kyrylo Budanov.

The negotiations will last two days and will include two separate sessions. The Russian delegation will be headed this time by the assistant to the President of Russia, Vladimir Medinsky, known for his participation in previous negotiations in Istanbul in 2025 and 2022. The Ukrainian delegation is led by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Rustem Umerov. It also includes the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate Oleh Ivashchenko, the head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Andriy Hnatov, and other officials, including military personnel.

The visit to Geneva was already commented on by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, noting that the Ukrainian side is not interested in historical lectures that Medinsky may attempt to give at the negotiations.

This round of negotiations takes place amidst tense relations between the three countries. The USA will simultaneously conduct negotiations with Iran. In the photo published by Budanov, the first deputies of the delegation are visible: Serhiy Kyslytsya and Vadym Skibitsky. Budanov noted the importance of protecting Ukraine’s interests and discussing historical lessons with colleagues.

It is expected that the negotiations will be tense and complex due to the geopolitical interests of the parties and historical contradictions. The success or failure of these negotiations may have a significant impact on the further development of diplomatic relations in the region.
