Ukraine has initiated the selection of candidates for supervisory boards of key energy companies
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has initiated the selection of candidates for the supervisory boards of several leading energy companies in the country as part of a large-scale overhaul of the state energy sector.
On December 15, Prime Minister Yuliya Svyrydenko announced the start of the selection of candidates for the supervisory boards of strategic energy companies, including Ukrenergo, Ukrhydroenergo, the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine, and others. According to her, this process is an important step in modernizing governance in state companies, aimed at enhancing transparency and efficiency.
Special selection criteria have been established for each company, including the integrity and professional qualities of the candidates. Svyrydenko emphasized that the formation of the new supervisory boards is expected to be completed in January, and the progress details will be published by the Ministry of Economy. This decision follows President Volodymyr Zelensky’s announcement of the need for structural changes in the energy sector, supported by recent anti-corruption investigations by NABU and the SAP.
Experts note that the effectiveness of supervisory boards is critical for maintaining stability and investment attractiveness in the Ukrainian energy sector. The current transformations could lead to significant improvements in management, reduction of corruption risks, and restoration of trust among international partners.
