A man planning a sabotage on the railway was detained in the Kharkiv region
The Security Service of Ukraine detained a man who attempted to carry out a sabotage on a railway route in the Kharkiv region on the orders of Russian special services. The prepared action aimed to destroy a military echelon or its infrastructure.
The investigation revealed that the detained 54-year-old mechanic, influenced by Russian special services, manufactured an explosive with a sensor, which he initially planted under the railway sleepers, but the explosion did not destroy the train. After this, he was tasked with placing the explosive directly under the military echelon.
The detention occurred at the preparation stage for the second attempt, thanks to the SSU operation. During the investigation, it became known that the mechanic was provided with instructions for making explosives, sensors, and eight kilograms of plastic explosives with the help of a drone.
The detainee is accused of sabotage and illegal handling of explosives. He faces life imprisonment, and the judge ordered him to be held in custody without bail.
Similar incidents have occurred before. In particular, on October 13, the SSU thwarted an attempted terrorist attack in Zaporizhzhia, and on October 29, it reported the detention of a former military instructor planning terrorist attacks in Kyiv.
