Samsung Electronics expects record profit in the third quarter of 2025
Analysts predict that Samsung Electronics will achieve an operating profit of 10.1 trillion won ($7.11 billion) in the third quarter of 2025, which will be the highest figure for this period since 2022.
The rising demand for memory in data centers and AI projects like ChatGPT is increasing server workload, which in turn drives up the prices of DRAM chips. Prices for these components are expected to have risen by 171.8% compared to last year. However, Samsung faces challenges due to delays in the supply of new HBM chips for Nvidia. Additionally, dependence on the Chinese market imposes constraints on expansion due to U.S. sanctions on advanced technologies.
Despite these challenges, Samsung has managed to secure lucrative deals with major market players such as OpenAI and Tesla, allowing the company to hope for further expansion of its contracts. Demand for AI chips is forecasted to grow, although there looms the risk of tariff restrictions from the U.S. and issues with exporting rare earth materials to China.
Moreover, Samsung plans to announce preliminary financial results for the third quarter on October 14, with full data to be published at the end of the month.
