European equipment for CHPP is already operating in Ukraine – Shmyhal

Ukraine received 3.3 thousand tons of equipment from European thermal power plants for energy strengthening

Since the beginning of the year, Ukraine has received over 3.3 thousand tons of equipment from decommissioned European thermal power stations. This equipment is already actively used at various facilities across the country, reported Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal.

According to the minister, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine organized 199 shipments to various regions, including Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Khmelnytskyi, Rivne, and Dnipropetrovsk. Lithuania made a particularly important contribution: through the company AB Ignitis Gamyba, 152 batches of equipment weighing over 2.4 thousand tons were delivered, and the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant added another 41 batches weighing 780.2 tons.

Germany also actively participated in this process through the company RWE Power AG. As part of the first stage of cooperation, six batches of equipment weighing 87.9 tons were delivered to central and western regions, Kyiv, and Kharkiv. Currently, Ukraine is collaborating with Latvia to transport equipment from the Riga TPP-2, where positions of interest to Ukrainian enterprises have already been identified, as well as the amount and source of funds needed for dismantling.

Work is also underway at other sites: eight thermal power plants in Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Austria, Croatia, and the Netherlands have been examined. Denys Shmyhal previously proposed to Germany to create a joint mechanism for forming a strategic reserve of energy equipment for Ukraine.
