Ukraine will spend almost 1 billion UAH on expanding the production of explosives.

Six Ukrainian companies will receive state grants for the development of explosives production, with a total amount of 944 million hryvnias.

During the Brave1 Advantage event, the results of a grant competition aimed at supporting the production of explosives in Ukraine were announced. As reported by the Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov, the companies that received the grants will be engaged in the production of such substances as TNT, RDX, TEN, as well as plasticized analogs of C4.

The total cost of projects supported under the competition amounts to 944 million hryvnias, of which the state will provide 620 million hryvnias. Also, during the event, an updated grant program was presented, which includes 53 technological priorities such as new materials for rockets, autonomous drones, laser weapons, and electronic countermeasure systems. Depending on the level of readiness of the developments, companies can receive grants ranging from 500 thousand to 8 million hryvnias.

In addition, the BraveTech EU program was launched, covering more than 40 technological areas such as high-speed striking means, exoskeletons, and other innovations, with a maximum grant of up to 8 million hryvnias. The new initiative Brave Prime involves collaboration with major international companies such as SAAB and Airbus.

It was also announced that new grant competitions would be held in 2026, covering defense technologies, including humanoid robots and laser air defense. Over three years, the Brave1 cluster has provided nearly 1000 grants totaling more than 5.8 billion hryvnias for the development of defense technologies in Ukraine.

This step underscores Ukraine’s desire to strengthen its defense-industrial complex against the backdrop of support from the European Union, which has provided the country with €3.8 billion for drone production and other front-line needs under the Ukraine Support Loan.

Key Directions of the Updated Grant Program
Technological Priorities Max Grant Size
Materials and Components for Rockets Up to 8 million UAH
Swarm Systems, Autonomous Drones Up to 8 million UAH
Laser Weapons, Railguns Up to 8 million UAH
Exoskeletons and Counter-Bunker Munitions Up to 8 million UAH
