Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis predicts the emergence of artificial general intelligence by 2030. According to Hassabis, AGI could become a transformative phenomenon for humanity, laying the foundation for a new technological era.
During a speech at Stanford University, Demis Hassabis expressed the opinion that AGI, capable of performing cognitive tasks on par with humans, could appear in the coming years, approximately by 2030 with an error margin of one year. He compares such a development to the singularity – a moment when technological progress radically changes society. Hassabis emphasized the necessity of preparing society for the new challenges that the development of AGI will bring.
However, the CEO of Google DeepMind noted that society should be cautious about overly categorical predictions regarding the future of artificial intelligence. Nevertheless, he is confident that AGI can contribute to significant breakthroughs in medicine, large-scale economic changes, and the development of a “world without scarcity.”
In response to the rapid development of artificial intelligence, the European Commission has presented a package of measures to strengthen technological sovereignty, which aims to enhance the positions of European companies in the fields of cloud services, artificial intelligence, and semiconductors.
