Ukraine ranked 43rd in the global startup ecosystem ranking according to the international study Global Startup Ecosystem Index 2026, prepared by the analytical platform StartupBlink. Compared to last year, the country lost one position but remains stable in the European top.
Ukraine maintained the 26th place in the European ranking for the second year in a row and remains eighth in Eastern Europe. The total value of the Ukrainian startup ecosystem is estimated at 20.7 billion US dollars, with an annual growth of 7%. The main achievement of the year was the success of the Ukrainian educational platform Preply, which reached a market valuation of 1.2 billion dollars, gained unicorn status, and joined companies like Grammarly and GitLab.
The Ukrainian ecosystem showed high results in Eastern Europe in web development, ranking third, as well as in the field of blockchain technologies and in terms of international brand value, placing fifth. The chairman of the Techosystem Association, Oleksandr Yatsenko, notes that investors are offered a unique stream of founders in the fields of DefenseTech, HealthTech, and EdTech.
In the city ranking, Kyiv dropped six positions to 74th place in the world but remains fifth in Eastern Europe, while Lviv rose by 26 places, and Dnipro showed significant growth, overtaking Odesa and becoming the fourth most powerful tech hub in Ukraine.
