Google launches a global “Preferred Sources” feature to improve search
Google has introduced a new feature called “Preferred Sources,” which is now available to users worldwide. This feature allows users to customize their search by adding favorite media outlets to a list of preferred sources.
Users can mark AIN and other sites as preferred sources directly through Google Search settings. There are two methods to add media. The first way is to click the “Subscribe to AIN” button on the site after opening the news. The second method involves using account settings, where you can add media through “Search settings” and “Preferred sources.”
Chosen individual news sources will appear in a separate “Your Sources” block on Google Search. This helps avoid misinformation, ensures clarity of information sources, and saves time. According to the “Ukrainians’ Media Literacy Index” report for 2025, only 3% of Ukrainians do not use the internet, while 92% are active users. However, 55% of the audience see misinformation as a problem, and only 19% can always distinguish false information.
The new feature has already gained popularity: over 200,000 various sites have been selected by users as preferred. This confirms the significance of the tool in today’s information space.
| Feature | Benefit for Users |
| Adding preferred sources | Improvement in information quality and time-saving |
