SBU: An 18-year-old Kharkiv resident “lured” the police to the site of the terror attack in Lviv, she has been charged

A resident of Kharkiv is suspected of involvement in the attack in Lviv: suspicion announced

An 18-year-old resident of Kharkiv has been announced under suspicion in the case involving the attack in Lviv, where a police patrol officer was killed. According to the investigation, she acted under the guidance of Russian special services.

The Security Service of Ukraine reported that the suspect, while being in Kharkiv, anonymously called the police and read a fake message about an alleged intrusion of unknown persons into a grocery store in Lviv. This call aimed to lure police officers to a site where Russians remotely detonated a homemade bomb hidden in a trash can. As a result of the explosion, a 23-year-old police officer was killed. When additional police forces and the National Guard arrived at the scene, a second explosion occurred.

The girl was detained in the Lviv region 10 hours after the explosions. She is accused of deliberately providing false information about a security threat. On February 23, the court ruled to arrest her for 60 days without the possibility of bail.

The background of this incident dates back to January 2026, when the suspect came to the attention of Russian intelligence services due to her desire for easy earnings on Telegram channels. The systematization of events and reactions to such incidents can have significant consequences for the further fight against terrorism in Ukraine, especially in the conditions of hybrid warfare from Russia.

In addition to the attack in Lviv, another explosion occurred on February 23 in Mykolaiv during a change of police patrols at a non-functional gas station, resulting in injuries to seven police officers. On the same evening, a terrorist attack occurred in the police building in Dnipro, fortunately without any casualties.
