Andreessen Horowitz raised $15 billion to develop AI in support of the “artificial intelligence supercycle”

The Andreessen Horowitz fund raised $15 billion, part of which will be invested in AI infrastructure.

The venture capital fund Andreessen Horowitz, also known as a16z, announced the raising of $15 billion in new capital. Of this amount, $1.7 billion will be directed toward infrastructure projects related to artificial intelligence.

The raised funds will be used to strengthen the fund’s position in the field of AI infrastructure, where a16z already has several successful projects, such as OpenAI, Black Forest Labs, Cursor, and Ideogram. Recently, the startup ElevenLabs, managed by one of the fund’s general partners, Jennifer Li, received a valuation of $11 billion.

As Li mentioned in an interview for the podcast “Equity,” the new financing will focus on supporting the “supercycle of artificial intelligence” — a unique wave of innovation in the field that changes the way users interact with information. The priority will remain on startups that offer specific infrastructure solutions for developers.

a16z aims to maintain an aggressive investment strategy, using the infrastructure level of AI as a basis for creating new tech giants. However, as Li emphasizes, companies working with artificial intelligence face a shortage of highly qualified personnel, complicating their rapid scaling.
