Polish PM insists that Europe remains a U.S. ally in new challenges
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk emphasized that Europe is the closest ally of the United States, responding to Washington’s critical approach to partners in the new national security strategy.
After the publication of the new U.S. national security strategy, which reveals a critical approach to European partners, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk expressed disagreement with Washington’s stance in his post on social media X. “Dear American friends, Europe is your closest ally, not your problem,” he noted.
Tusk stressed that Europe and the U.S. have had common enemies over the past 80 years and called for maintaining such a strategy for joint security, leaving open the question of possible changes. Earlier, European Union diplomacy head Kaja Kallas commented on the new strategy, noting that Europe underestimates its power in the context of relations with Russia.
On December 5, the United States presented its updated national security strategy, whose main interest in Europe is to end the fighting in the Russian-Ukrainian war. At the same time, Russia is not mentioned as an aggressor in the document. A Bloomberg analysis emphasizes that the new Trump administration strategy criticizes allies more than enemies like North Korea or Venezuela.
| Country | Main U.S. Interest |
