Ukraine increased electricity imports by 150% in a year
In November this year, Ukraine significantly increased electricity imports compared to the same period last year, reaching a total of 415,000 MWh.
According to ExPro, electricity imports in November rose by 15% compared to October 2025. Hungary continues to be the main supplier, providing 44% of the imported electricity. Meanwhile, imports from Slovakia increased tenfold, and from Moldova doubled. In contrast, imports from Poland significantly decreased by 23%.
Electricity exports to European countries have almost stopped, decreasing by 94% during November, and supplies were completely suspended from November 11. A total of only 5.2 thousand MWh was exported, which is the lowest figure this year, and 91% less than in November 2024.
Experts note that the current situation is related to the shortage of capacity due to Russian attacks on the Ukrainian energy system. This has led to power outages for consumers in several regions of Ukraine, such as Odesa, Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Dnipropetrovsk.
Energy consumption restriction measures, including scheduled outages and power limitation charts for industry and business, continue in all regions of the country as of December 2.
