SSU presented a new generation of “Sea Baby” drones for operations in the Black Sea. These drones have already been successfully used in attacks on the Crimean bridge and are capable of operating at a distance of more than 1500 km.
The Security Service of Ukraine presented innovative “Sea Baby” sea drones recently tested during an operation in the Black Sea. SSU Brigadier General Ivan Lukashevich, known under the pseudonym “Hunter,” declared their effectiveness in recent attacks on the Crimean bridge on June 3, 2025. The drones delivered explosives to blow up the bridge supports, which is considered an illegal construction.
Funding for the development of the new drones was obtained through the UNITED24 fundraising platform. They have enhanced engines and a modern navigation system, can carry up to 2000 kg of cargo, and operate at a distance of more than 1500 km. Among the presented models, one drone was equipped with a gyrostabilized machine-gun installation with automatic target acquisition, and another with a Grad multiple rocket launcher system.
“The SSU is the ideologist of a new type of maritime warfare,” Lukashevich emphasized. According to him, the new developments are aimed at the destruction of the Russian Black Sea fleet, which is a strategic task set by the President of Ukraine. Also, SSU Head Vasyl Malyuk summarized that these drones have shown high results and contributed to strengthening Ukraine’s position in the Black Sea area.
Against this background, Russia was also working on its own sea drones, particularly the “Zephyr” model, but their efforts have not yet yielded significant results.
