Iran Summons Polish Diplomat Over Drone Display in UK Parliament
Iran expressed dissatisfaction after Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski displayed an Iranian drone in the UK Parliament, accusing him of making “anti-Iranian statements.”
The Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned Poland’s chargé d’affaires, Marcin Wilczek, to protest the display of the “Shahed” drone in the UK Parliament, which allegedly is used by Russia in the war against Ukraine. Iranian representative Mahmoud Heidari accused Sikorski of anti-Iranian actions and collaborating with “American-Zionist groups” to tarnish Iran’s image on the international stage, calling it an “anti-Iranian show.”
During the meeting, the Iranian side denied the “baseless accusations” and expressed regret over the repetition of stereotypical statements. Meanwhile, Warsaw emphasized that the conversation in Tehran was bilateral, with the Polish representative highlighting the threat posed by Iranian drones to Poland’s security.
Previously, in July, it was reported that the delivery of “Shaheds” from Iran to Russia had ceased, although other forms of assistance continued. In August, Iran announced cooperation with Russia and China, noting an intention to evade EU sanctions. The incident involving the drone display in the UK Parliament is part of a broader diplomatic tension amid international criticism of Iran’s foreign policy.
