As a result of the Russian missile strike in Odesa, a civilian vessel in the port of Chornomorsk was affected, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported. According to the information, the bulk carrier Cenk T may have been damaged.
The attack on the port of Chornomorsk occurred during another escalation in southern Ukraine. The region has been subjected to intensified shelling following a Russian missile attack that damaged Odesa’s energy infrastructure, leaving 90,000 households without electricity. It is known that around 16:00, an air raid alert was declared, as well as warnings about ballistic missiles in the region.
Reuters sources, who wished to remain anonymous, report that during the attack, the bulk carrier Cenk T, which was seen in the Black Sea under the Panamanian flag, could have been affected. This vessel is reportedly owned by a Turkish citizen. According to one informed person, during the attack, the vessel caught fire.
Volodymyr Zelensky once again emphasized that such attacks by Russia have no military sense and only underline the unwillingness of the Russian side to engage in diplomatic dialogue and the destruction of normal life in Ukraine.
