Reuters: Venezuela prepares guerrilla response in case of US attack

Venezuela is preparing guerrilla resistance and measures of “anarchization” in case of a U.S. invasion, using both modern and outdated Russian equipment. These strategies are aimed at complicating the actions of foreign military forces on the country’s territory.

In response to a potential U.S. invasion, Venezuela is developing a set of measures that include guerrilla resistance and “anarchization” tactics. As Reuters notes, citing informed interlocutors and internal documents, such actions are a “silent acknowledgment” of the army’s readiness for unconventional warfare. The guerrilla strategy involves military units participating in over 280 locations for sabotage actions.

Another tactic, known as “anarchization,” involves using intelligence services and armed supporters of the ruling party to create chaos, particularly in the capital, Caracas. This is intended to make Venezuela ungovernable for foreign troops. However, even within such measures, experts acknowledge a low chance of success in the event of conventional warfare.

According to interlocutors, the Venezuelan army significantly lags behind the American one in terms of training and equipment due to low salaries and outdated equipment. President Nicolas Maduro stated that millions of civilians are undergoing training, but only 5,000 to 7,000 people will participate in the “anarchization.” Meanwhile, about 60,000 military personnel are planned to be involved in guerrilla resistance.

According to the latest data, the United States has dispatched B-1 bombers and a carrier strike group to Venezuela’s coast, prompting a response from Maduro on the international stage. He has appealed to Russia, China, and Iran to strengthen the country’s military capabilities.

Military experts believe that possible American intervention in Venezuela could divert U.S. attention from other global issues, particularly the situation in Ukraine.
