Poland maintains a ban on some imports of Ukrainian agricultural products.

Poland does not plan to lift the ban on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products

The Polish government does not see the possibility of canceling the unilateral ban on the import of certain types of Ukrainian agricultural products. This issue remains a priority for protecting Polish farmers and consumers.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Poland Adam Nowak, during a visit to Brussels, stated that trade liberalization with Ukraine under the current conditions is unfavorable for the Polish agricultural market. Nowak emphasized that Ukraine gained access to the European market without complying with certain requirements that Polish farmers must follow.

The ban was introduced at the beginning of 2023 at the initiative of several EU member states, including Poland. This move was justified by the need to protect domestic producers from potential pressure on the national market. During a recent visit to Poland, the Polish side conveyed its position to the European Commissioner for Agriculture and Food, Christophe Hansen.

Last month, the Main Inspectorate of Agricultural and Food Quality of Poland banned the import of three batches of Ukrainian agricultural products with a total weight of nearly 60 tons, highlighting the tension in this matter.

The information on this topic is important as it reflects the current trade relations between Ukraine and Poland and may have implications for the agricultural sector of both countries.
