The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has passed a bill that will improve mobile internet across the country.
The Parliament of Ukraine has approved bill №12094, aimed at implementing high-quality mobile internet throughout the state. The document outlines a series of innovations aimed at enhancing the speed and stability of internet services.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov noted that this step is crucial to ensure uninterrupted connectivity for all citizens, especially during displacement or in emergencies. The law stipulates that mobile operators will now be required to provide services meeting set speed and stability criteria.
Among other innovations is the ability for users to independently test internet speed via smartphones, with results automatically sent to the National Commission for State Regulation of Electronic Communications for further analysis and prompt response.
The law also provides for the lifting of the moratorium on inspections in rural areas, which will accelerate the development of telecommunications networks in villages. Additionally, the national roaming mechanism introduced during the war will remain in effect after the end of martial law.
This bill is part of a broader strategy to improve communication infrastructure in Ukraine. It was recently reported about the launch of the construction of the Kardesa underwater cable system by Vodafone Group and Vodafone Ukraine, linking several countries, bypassing Russian territories.
