Microsoft launched Copilot Chat in office applications to simplify document handling
Microsoft officially presented the Copilot Chat feature for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote, which enhances interaction with these programs through new capabilities.
Microsoft 365 users can now directly communicate with the Copilot interface in the sidebar of each document, spreadsheet, or presentation. It allows file searching using the command “/”, uploading multiple images, and improved input for long queries. Copilot operates on the GPT-5 model, providing fast and accurate responses. Furthermore, license holders receive expanded access to data from not only technical documents but also emails, chats, and meetings within the organization.
The innovation also includes the launch of Researcher and Analyst agents, which facilitate research and data analysis directly in Word or Excel. This simplifies users’ work with information and contributes to their productivity enhancement.
For IT administrators, the Copilot Control System (CCS) panel has been introduced to ensure the security and control of Copilot tools’ usage and monitor their effectiveness.
This launch is part of Microsoft’s broader strategy to integrate artificial intelligence into its product lineup. In October 2025, the company announced the testing of Copilot Actions in Windows 11, which will improve file handling on a user’s computer.
