Ukrainian farmers are forecasted to increase their harvest by 6% in 2025, thanks to grains.
The Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine expects that in 2025, the harvest will grow by 6% compared to the previous year, with particular attention given to increasing grain production.
In his interview with Forbes Ukraine, the Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture Oleksiy Sobolev stated that the expected harvest of 59 million tons of grains will be 3 million tons more than the previous year. The area sown with winter crops is 4.8 million tons or 74% of the planned volume, while harvested grains cover 73% of all sown areas.
The total harvest of grains and oilseeds in Ukraine in 2025 may reach 79 million tons. The interaction of weather conditions and anomalies in harvest collection will affect the distribution of GDP growth, shifting part of the agricultural sector’s income from the first to the second half of 2025.
Experts note that in addition to economic benefits, an increase in grain volumes could support the stability of the food sector and also develop Ukraine’s export potential. However, specialists express concerns about military risks and adverse weather conditions, which could also significantly impact the expected outcome.
Notably, Ukraine is forecasted to collect the lowest wheat harvest in the last 13 years, highlighting the importance of monitoring changes in the agricultural market.
