President of Ukraine: The number of Russian troops in Pokrovsk and Kupiansk remains significant
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, reported that in Pokrovsk, Russian forces have a strength of about 1100 soldiers, and in Kupiansk, up to 100, but Ukrainian forces continue successful operations in these regions.
During his address to the media, President Zelensky noted that the situation in Pokrovsk remains unchanged, except for minor changes in the enemy’s numbers. “We are at about the same level in the middle of the city; on the outskirts, the numbers are higher, but they refer to those who entered and whom we are fighting against,” he emphasized.
In the city of Kupiansk, Ukrainian troops continue to advance, supporting the clearance of the area from occupiers. “Our troops control Kupiansk, where up to 100 Russian soldiers remain. Their number is decreasing as there used to be more. They are all there temporarily,” Zelensky noted.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, in the area of Hulyaipole, according to the president, the situation was difficult, but Ukrainian forces managed to stabilize it. Recalling his previous visits to Kupiansk, Zelensky noted that the Russians specifically shelled the commemorative stele, trying to dispute the presence of the Ukrainian president in the city. However, operational information indicates that losses among Russian troops in the Pokrovsk direction increased by 30% after the involvement of reserves, although, according to Ukrainian military, the reserves are used “unwisely,” and are just replenished with infantry.
| City | Number of Russian troops | Situation |
|---|---|---|
| Pokrovsk | 1100 | Stable, Ukrainian troops resist |
| Kupiansk | up to 100 | Ukrainian troops control, situation stabilizing |
