The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has completed the formation of supervisory boards for NNEGC “Energoatom” and LLC “Operator of the Gas Transmission System of Ukraine”, appointing new independent members as part of the reform of corporate governance in the energy sector.
According to the Ministry of Economy, Dominik Minier, a citizen of France and Canada, with many years of experience in nuclear energy, and Matthew Murray, a US citizen and governance and anti-corruption specialist, were appointed as independent members of the supervisory board of “Energoatom”. Yuriy Butsa, a well-known expert in public finance and management, became the state’s representative on the supervisory board of the “Operator of the Gas Transmission System of Ukraine”.
These appointments are part of the government’s policy to improve corporate governance at state-owned enterprises in the energy sector. This step continues the initiative started last December after the announcement of the fight against corruption in the energy sector, including Operation Midas, aimed at exposing corruption schemes in Energoatom.
It is expected that the new appointments will help ensure transparency and efficiency in enterprise management, which in turn will contribute to strengthening Ukraine’s energy security and improving the investment climate in the industry.
