An Odessa citizen received a prison sentence for publishing a video with positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
A resident of the Odessa region was found guilty of distributing confidential information and illegal possession of ammunition. The court sentenced him to five years in prison.
A 37-year-old man from the Odessa region, known on social media, received a five-year prison term for publishing a video containing information about the locations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by the Odessa Regional Prosecutor’s Office. The material that appeared on TikTok gathered over 41,000 views, raising concerns about the disclosure of strategic information.
The prosecution proved in court that in November 2023 the arrested person knowingly filmed combat actions of Ukrainian military during a large-scale Russian attack. The video allowed identification of the fire positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In addition, during a search of his home, illegally acquired cartridges of various calibers were discovered and seized. The defendant denied his guilt.
This case occurs amidst recent arrests by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) of individuals suspected of collaborating with Russia in the war against Ukraine. For example, on August 14, the SBU detained agents who were adjusting strikes on the Odessa region. According to the investigation, they were recruited through the entourage of a former Member of Parliament from the “Party of Regions.” And on November 6, in the Kharkiv region, a man was detained who attempted to blow up a military train twice.
