Three people killed by missile strike in Balakliya, ten more wounded
On the night of November 17, Balakliya, a city in the Kharkiv region, suffered two missile attacks, resulting in at least three people dead and ten others injured, including three children.
Russian forces launched missile strikes on a densely populated part of the city, reported Balakliya city administration head Vitaliy Karabanov and Kharkiv state administration head Oleh Synyehubov. The attack damaged apartment buildings and private vehicles. According to updated information, one person is receiving outpatient medical care, while nine others have been hospitalized, including children born in 2011, 2007, and 2010.
The State Emergency Service reported that the total number of affected persons increased to 13, including four children. Fires broke out in a private residential building, on apartment balconies, and in vehicles as a result of the attack. Nine-story and five-story buildings and one kindergarten were destroyed. The shelling was carried out with two “Iskander-M” ballistic missiles from the Rostov region.
This incident marks another escalation of violence in the region. Previously, on October 1, a missile strike on Balakliya resulted in the death of a woman and injuries to several people. On November 12, Kharkiv was attacked by drones, damaging civilian structures, and on November 16, a drone hit a playground in the city.
