The competition for the position of the Head of the Gas Transmission System Operator has been suspended due to the NABU investigation
The competition for the appointment of a new head of the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine was suspended due to allegations of corruption, announced Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko.
The decision to suspend the competition for the high-ranking state position was made after the publication of the materials of the investigation by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU). One of the finalists of the competition turned out to be a person involved in the case of possible abuses in the state company “Energoatom”. Yuliia Svyrydenko noted that continuing the competition procedure under such conditions is incompatible with the principles of transparency and integrity, so its resumption will only be possible after an additional integrity check of the participants.
Although the names of the participants are not disclosed, it was previously reported by the government that the supervisory board of the Gas Transmission System Operator planned to appoint Oksana Kryvenko as the General Director. Kryvenko previously held the position of advisor to the former Minister of Energy Herman Halushchenko and headed the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities.
In August 2025, the case against Kryvenko regarding the “Rotterdam+” formula was closed by the Higher Anti-Corruption Court. In response to the situation, the Cabinet of Ministers initiated an audit of all state companies, especially in the energy sector.
