Enwell Energy: Domestic resources can replace gas imports in Ukraine

Enwell Energy is ready to supply Ukraine with additional volumes of gas during the heating season

The British company Enwell Energy has announced its readiness to resume gas production in Ukraine, which will allow the country to receive an additional 70 million cubic meters of gas during the heating season.

In the context of increasing reliance on imported gas due to a reduction in domestic production, Enwell Energy’s Chairman of the Board, Chuck Valeski, highlighted the importance of utilizing local resources. In an interview with Forbes Ukraine, he pointed out that imported resources are more expensive, and each cubic meter of domestic gas during the war becomes strategically important for Ukraine. In addition to gas, the company can also produce 10,000 tons of condensate, 7,000 tons of oil, and 5,500 tons of liquefied gas, significantly reducing the need for imports.

It should be noted that Ukraine is actively working on diversifying gas supplies. Recently, an agreement was reached on the supply of American liquefied natural gas, and Poland has provided a loan for these purposes. Additionally, gas imports have resumed via the southern Trans-Balkan route, connected with LNG terminals in Greece through Moldova, Romania, and Bulgaria.

The use of domestic reserves can significantly reduce costs and strengthen the country’s energy independence.
