Ukrainian Defense Forces hold back Russian pressure in Pokrovsk
The Ukrainian Defense Forces are effectively halting the advance of Russian troops towards Pokrovsk, maintaining control over key positions despite logistical challenges. The situation in the city remains tense, but the Ukrainian military group “East” has reported successful defense.
As of the evening of November 4, Ukrainian defenders repelled 23 out of 27 attacks by Russian occupiers throughout the day. Search and strike groups continue to operate within Pokrovsk, identifying and destroying Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups. The operations involve drone operators, assault units, as well as the Special Operations Forces, Military Law Enforcement Service, Security Service of Ukraine, and the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense.
Earlier, on October 31, it was reported that the GUR conducted an airborne operation in the Pokrovsk areas, personally led by Budanov. Despite the Russian Ministry of Defense’s claims about an allegedly thwarted attempt by Ukrainian special forces to land, the Ukrainian side dismisses such statements as provocation. General Syrsky emphasized that Pokrovsk was neither encircled nor blocked.
Amid ongoing hostilities, on November 3 in Pokrovsk, it was still possible to restrain the expansion of Russian troop presence in the northern part of the city, preventing the blockage of logistical routes. The situation remains tense but controlled, indicating an effective strategy by Ukrainian Security and Defense Forces.
