Ukraine and the EU Agree on a New Agricultural Export Regime

Ukraine and the European Union have reached an agreement to lift some tariffs and increase export quotas on Ukrainian agricultural products. This new trade regime will come into effect on October 29 and will be permanent.

According to the decision of the Association Committee in Trade Configuration 3/2025, agreed on October 14, 2025, Ukrainian agricultural producers will be able to take advantage of the new conditions this year. According to Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Taras Kachka, the next review of the export regime conditions is planned for 2028. This decision aims to improve Ukraine’s trade balance and support domestic exporters.

EU member states approved the new terms of the trade agreement on October 13, which replaces the “visa-free trade” regime that expired in June 2025. The changes were necessary due to the deepening of Ukraine’s trade deficit following the abolition of the old regime.

The importance of the new trade regime lies in the potential growth of Ukrainian agricultural exports, which could significantly increase revenues from trade with the European Union. Experts believe that this decision will help stabilize the Ukrainian economy and expand export opportunities for Ukrainian producers on the international stage.
