Ukraine is negotiating with Poland regarding agricultural exports.

Ukraine is considering the possibility of exporting agricultural products through Poland amid port attacks

Ukraine is seeking alternative routes for exporting agricultural products due to Russian attacks on port infrastructure. The focus is on transit through European Union countries.

Agricultural Policy Minister Taras Vysotskyi emphasized the necessity of maximizing logistical transit opportunities during a meeting with representatives of the Polish Embassy in Ukraine. He noted that maritime logistics have become severely complicated and more expensive. According to him, it is important to increase throughput capacity for transit by involving Ukraine’s railway, customs, border, veterinary, and phytosanitary services.

Deputy Minister Denys Bashlyk stated that Ukraine is also working on restoring the maritime corridor and establishing alternative export routes through solidarity pathways and ports of other countries, such as Gdansk, Szczecin, Świnoujście, Gdynia. However, it will be important to assess the cost and economic feasibility of these routes.

Additionally, the issue of ensuring sufficient storage capacity for the harvest was discussed. According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, in November, the deficit of such capacities could range from 7.5-8 million tons to 11 million tons.

The meeting was attended by temporary chargé d’affaires of Poland in Ukraine Piotr Lukasiewicz and embassy advisor Zbigniew Ekert. Simultaneously, Ukraine and Romania are working on expanding the logistical capabilities of the port of Constanța, although the shallowing of the Danube also complicates the export of Ukrainian grain.
