Russian troops struck massive blows at Ukrnafta facilities in eastern Ukraine, destroying important equipment and halting several extraction sites.
On the night of August 7, Russian forces shelled seven oil and gas facilities in eastern Ukraine. This led to significant losses in oil and gas extraction, though there were no injuries. Acting Chairman of Naftogaz, Sergiy Fedorenko, noted that this was the most massive attack on Ukrnafta facilities in recent times. Additionally, four of the company’s gas stations in the Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions were also attacked; however, there were no casualties among customers and employees.
Naftogaz specifies that the Russian side has destroyed 32 UKRNAFTA gas complexes and five Ukrgazvydobuvannya facilities over seven months this year. Frequent attacks predominantly target facilities in the Kharkiv and Poltava regions. These actions not only affect the extraction of energy resources but also have potentially serious consequences for the country’s energy security. Experts emphasize the importance of protecting energy infrastructure under ongoing aggression.
