Pinterest signs a $4 billion deal with Amazon Web Services for AI development

Pinterest has signed a contract with Amazon Web Services for $4 billion, which will provide cloud services through 2031. Amid this news, shares of Pinterest and Amazon have risen.

Under the deal, AWS will provide Pinterest with access to its Graviton and Trainium processors, which will be used to scale projects in the field of artificial intelligence. According to Pinterest’s CTO Matt Madrigal, the collaboration with AWS will give the company more flexibility in using computing resources, ensuring infrastructure efficiency to accelerate the implementation of the AI strategy.

This partnership, which began back in 2010, has already contributed to improving the reliability and performance of Pinterest’s core services. The new contract involves expanding the use of specialized AWS chips for AI workload processing, including the integration of AWS Trainium processors. This, in turn, will allow Pinterest to develop personalized visual search and recommendation features on the platform.

In January 2026, Pinterest announced plans to reduce staff and office space to direct resources towards artificial intelligence development. The latest changes will affect “less than 15%” of employees and will involve restructuring costs of up to $45 million.
