Meta has started testing a new feature that uses artificial intelligence on the social network Threads, specifically the integration of the Meta AI chatbot, which can add context to users’ posts.
The feature, reminiscent of Grok’s capabilities on the social platform X, allows interaction through a separate account @meta.ai in Threads. Users will be able to invite the chatbot into comments or use it like a regular chat. The main capabilities of the bot include publicly responding to posts and answering questions about trends and news. For example, a user can ask about the reasons for the World Cup discussion, and the bot will provide an answer directly under the post.
Currently, the feature is in beta mode and available in countries such as Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Argentina, and Singapore. This new functionality is part of a broader Meta strategy to increase the integration of artificial intelligence into its products.
Meta continues to develop its AI direction after the announcement in April 2026 for the implementation of the Muse Spark artificial intelligence model, which became the foundation for the updated Meta AI assistant.
