Ombudsman reports violations found at Uzhhorod TCC, investigation initiated
Significant violations discovered at the Uzhhorod district territorial center of recruitment and social support have caused outrage for the Ombudsman, Dmytro Lubinets. The violations have prompted a special inspection.
On April 4, the Ombudsman of Ukraine, Dmytro Lubinets, reported serious violations at the Uzhhorod TCC and SS. He mentioned that the detention of a man with physical disabilities, unsanitary conditions, and unjustified detention up to 50 days are examples of lawlessness and human rights violations at this facility. The Ombudsman stressed that such conditions degrade human dignity and contribute to the spread of Russian propaganda, rather than countering it.
According to the Ombudsman, his representative in Zakarpattia, Andriy Kriuchkov, documented unsanitary conditions: one shower and toilet for dozens of people, lack of bedding, as well as limited dishware, forcing people to wait to eat from the same plate. Additionally, cases of confiscation of personal documents and phones from detainees were discovered.
In response to Dmytro Lubinets’s accusations, the Operational Command “West” stated that it had already initiated the work of a special commission to verify the stated facts. The inspection aims to establish compliance with the law and, in case of confirmed violations, to forward materials to law enforcement agencies.
The Ombudsman called for ensuring legal mobilization and preventing conflicts between citizens and TCC staff. It is worth noting that conflicts between reservists and TCC staff in Ukraine have already led to several tragic incidents.
