Traffic on the border with Romania will be temporarily restricted for more than a month.

Reconstruction of the Tisza Bridge will restrict movement at the border with Romania

Romania is starting the reconstruction of the road bridge over the Tisza River, which will lead to temporary movement restrictions through the Solotvyno – Sighetu Marmației checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Romanian border.

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported that the reconstruction of the bridge will start on February 16 and will last until April 3. During this period, from 09:00 to 16:00 on weekdays, the clearance of all vehicles will be suspended. However, pedestrian traffic will remain unrestricted. Citizens are advised to take these changes into account when planning trips and, if possible, use alternative checkpoints.

This repair is part of efforts to improve infrastructure at the border between Ukraine and Romania. The reconstruction of the bridge may help resolve potential transportation challenges in the future. Experts emphasize the need to modernize border facilities in the region to enhance trade links with EU countries.

Simultaneously, other events are being recorded at the borders. For example, in January, the number of arrests at the border with Belarus increased 356 times, highlighting the dynamic nature of situations at different sections of Ukraine’s borders.

Start Date of Restrictions Restriction Time Estimated End Date Type of Vehicles
February 16 09:00 – 16:00 April 3 All vehicles
