Ukraine carries out round-the-clock electricity imports from the EU to cover the deficit
Electricity imports from the EU help Ukraine partially cover the power shortage caused by shelling of the power system. This was reported by Deputy Minister of Energy Mykola Kolisnyk at a briefing on December 10.
Since the beginning of December, Ukraine has actively imported electricity from neighboring European countries every hour of the day. According to Mykola Kolisnyk, this approach allows for partial compensation for losses in the power system resulting from Russian shelling. He also emphasized that businesses can use more than 60% of the imported electricity to avoid outages.
Moreover, Ukraine receives humanitarian aid from international partners. The shipments include equipment necessary for restoring damaged power facilities. It should be noted that round-the-clock power outage schedules are in place, and “Ukrenergo” does not disclose the extent of current outages.
In the face of the crisis, the government is developing solutions to improve the energy supply situation, aiming to ensure stability for the population and the economy. Imports from the EU are considered an important step in this direction, as they help reduce the load on the grids and meet the economic needs.
