Power outages will be intensified in Ukraine on December 7 due to a massive Russian attack.

Power Outage Schedules Intensify Across Ukraine

On Sunday, December 7, expanded power outage schedules will come into effect in Ukraine due to the mass shelling that occurred on December 6. This was reported by the national energy company “Ukrenergo”.

As a result of the latest attacks by Russia on the country’s energy infrastructure, strengthened measures to limit electricity consumption will be introduced in all regions of Ukraine. The hourly outages, covering the entire day, will span from 3 to 4 stages. This means that each stage can last up to 12 hours without electricity. Meanwhile, industrial consumers will face power limitations throughout the day.

“The timing and extent of restrictions may change. Please pay attention to the official information from local energy providers. When electricity is available, use it sparingly,” note “Ukrenergo”.

It was initially planned that on December 6, less severe restrictions would be applied (ranging from 0.5 to 2.5 stages), but after the attacks, their scope increased to 2.5-3 simultaneous stages.

It’s important to add that a stage is a group of residential and industrial consumers that use a specified amount of megawatts. One stage entails approximately 4 hours of outages per day. The exact outage times can be found on the resources of local energy providers.

On the night of December 6, Russia conducted another massive attack on Ukrainian energy, launching 51 missiles and 653 drones. Ukrainian military managed to intercept 30 missiles and 585 UAVs, but some strikes were successful, leading to damage and casualties. This is already the eighth such attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure this year.

The situation in Ukraine’s energy market is further complicated by the fact that the country’s nuclear power plants have been forced to reduce output, and Moldova, considering the situation, has appealed to Romania for emergency electricity supply assistance.
