MP Anna Skorokhod is suspected of extorting $250,000 for organizing sanctions
The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau reported suspicion to Ukrainian MP Anna Skorokhod and her accomplices regarding the extortion of $250,000 for resolving the issue of imposing sanctions on a competing company.
According to law enforcement, Anna Skorokhod, a member of the “For the Future” parliamentary group, led a criminal group that included the MP’s assistant and several intermediaries. They agreed to receive a bribe from a businessman totaling $250,000, which was allegedly meant to be transferred to officials of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) for imposing sanctions on the competing company.
During negotiations, the funds were decided to be divided into two payments. Law enforcement recorded the transfer of the first part of the bribe, amounting to $125,000, in central Kyiv. However, it turned out that the participants in the scheme did not find officials who were willing to carry out illegal actions, and the money was never transferred to its intended destination.
In addition, searches were conducted at the workplaces and residences of Skorokhod and her accomplices, during which evidence of their illegal activities was found. All the figures involved in the case have been charged with inciting the provision of unlawful benefits.
The issue of preventive measures for the suspects is currently under consideration by law enforcement. This event is part of a broader anti-corruption campaign in Ukraine aimed at eradicating corruption in the highest echelons of power.
