The Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office will not dismiss the press secretary with a past in pro-Russian media
Yulia Koltak, who worked on channels with pro-Russian content, remains the press secretary of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office despite criticism of her career path.
Yulia Koltak has been working as the press secretary of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office since September 17, 2025. It is known that she previously hosted programs on the TV channels NewsOne and 112 Ukraine, which belonged to the businessman with pro-Russian ties, Viktor Medvedchuk. This became known from a journalistic inquiry provided to LIGA.net, which was directed to the Office of the Prosecutor General.
The inquiry detailed Koltak’s career path, including her participation in projects related to propaganda. Despite criticism, the prosecutor’s office does not plan to dismiss her from the position. According to a source in the prosecutor’s office, Koltak did not undergo a special check, and her appointment took place under a temporary procedure due to martial law in Ukraine.
The context of the situation is reinforced by statements that appointments to government positions are made without competitions during martial law. The prosecutor’s office refused to provide a copy of Koltak’s employment record, citing electronic records, and did not provide a clear answer to questions regarding Koltak’s possible dismissal.
This case has attracted additional attention because recently the company Rozetka also ceased cooperation with blogger Angelina Pichik due to her activities on pro-Russian channels.
