Hunting for “Donkeys”: The Logistics Targets of the AFU and the Transition to Ground Robotic Systems

Russian troops are switching to a foot logistic approach in the conflict zone in Ukraine.

Amid current challenges related to supply on the front, Russian occupying forces have faced the need to adapt their logistic solutions, particularly due to increased pressure from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Logistic support is one of the most vulnerable components of military provision for the Russian army. According to Ukrainian military, Russian units have started using foot routes to deliver necessary supplies in order to minimize the risk of equipment losses due to artillery strikes and drone attacks by the Ukrainian army.

Experts believe that such changes in the tactics of the Russian army may indicate a critical supply situation and a desire to find more reliable delivery routes. This may also affect the responsiveness of support and reduce the effectiveness of units’ actions on the front. On their part, Ukrainian forces continue to apply a comprehensive approach to destabilizing the already complex logistics of the opponent. The adaptation by the Russian side could have significant consequences for the further development of the conflict.
