Zelensky arrived in Poland to meet with President Karol Nawrocki
On December 18, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Poland for the first official meeting with Polish President Karol Nawrocki. The event is scheduled for December 19.
Zelensky’s visit takes place amid recent statements about Poland’s support for Ukraine. Polish President Karol Nawrocki, who took office in August 2025, previously expressed support for Kyiv in the context of the U.S. peace plan, emphasizing the importance of Ukraine’s resolute voice in these negotiations. However, his ambiguous stance on Ukraine’s accession to the EU and NATO has caused controversies in international politics.
Before the visit, Zbigniew Bogutski, head of Nawrocki’s office, noted that Poland expects Zelensky to acknowledge the efforts of the Polish people in providing humanitarian and military support to Ukraine. Additionally, Polish media actively discuss plans to transfer several MiG-29 aircraft to Ukraine.
The meeting of the presidents is scheduled for 10:00, indicating the importance that Poland and Ukraine attach to mutual support during a challenging period of heightened tension on the international stage.
