Ukrainian agrarians are approaching the completion of the sowing campaign at 97% of the forecasted areas
Ukrainian farmers have sown 5.84 million hectares of cereals and legumes, which constitutes 97% of the forecasted areas for this season, reports the Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture.
According to the provided data, the largest sowing areas have been achieved in Poltava, Chernihiv, Vinnytsia, Kyiv, and Cherkasy regions. Specifically, farmers have sown spring wheat on 186.2 thousand hectares, spring barley on 713.4 thousand hectares, peas on 259.5 thousand hectares, oats on 137.5 thousand hectares, corn on 4,336.6 thousand hectares, millet on 37.6 thousand hectares, and buckwheat on 51.1 thousand hectares.
The most active regions in this year’s sowing campaign are Poltava, Chernihiv, and Vinnytsia. Poltava has already sown 594.1 thousand hectares, with 502.5 thousand designated for corn. Chernihiv reports about 567 thousand hectares, with corn occupying 506.4 thousand hectares, and Vinnytsia has sown 481.6 thousand hectares, including 396.1 thousand hectares of corn.
Besides legumes, sowing of other strategically important crops continues. Technical crops have been planted on 6.9 million hectares, which is 95% of the forecast. Specifically, the area planted with sugar beets has reached 190 thousand hectares, with sunflowers covering 4.73 million hectares, and soybeans nearly 2 million hectares.

We remind that several countries neighboring Ukraine, including Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia, have restricted the import of certain types of agricultural products from Ukraine. Additionally, in April, Ukraine opened its first agricultural hub in Africa as part of the Food from Ukraine initiative.
