The European Union has allocated Ukraine a tranche of 5.9 billion euros for infrastructure recovery.
Ukraine received financial aid from the European Union in the amount of 5.9 billion euros. This tranche will be crucial for the economic recovery and strengthening of the country’s infrastructure.
Yuliia Svyrydenko, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, reported that 4.1 billion euros were provided under the ERA Loans mechanism, which is the final tranche of the 18 billion euros program funded from the profits of frozen Russian assets. She noted that this indicates a change in the situation where Russia starts paying for its crimes, calling it a gesture of European solidarity and support.
Additionally, 1.8 billion euros were allocated through the Ukraine Facility initiative. Svyrydenko emphasized that the financial support is a confirmation of Ukraine’s success on the path of reforms and European integration. She also highlighted the significance of the strategic partnership with the EU in supporting the country’s macro-financial stability amid the ongoing war.
Ukraine intends to use the funds received for infrastructure recovery and economic strengthening, allowing for more internal resources to be directed towards defense. The Prime Minister thanked the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the European Commissioners Valdis Dombrovskis and Mairead McGuinness for their unwavering support.
The European Union is already considering options for further financial assistance to Ukraine in 2026-27, with a potential amount ranging from 130 to 140 billion euros.
