Tusk: In Poland, there is sometimes an impression that not all Ukrainians appreciate our efforts.

Tusk called for patience and understanding between Ukrainians and Poles

Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk emphasized the importance of mutual understanding and patience between Ukrainians and Poles during a meeting with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in Warsaw.

During the talks held on December 19, Tusk noted that Poland has been providing all-around support to Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale war and that both countries have common interests, such as the independence and security of Europe. “We support Ukraine with all our might,” said the prime minister, adding that Poles and Ukrainians should work on mutual understanding, as sometimes there is a feeling on both sides of misunderstanding and lack of gratitude.

Tusk also stressed the importance of building the future on the basis of respect and friendship. “All issues can be resolved with a common goal — building a safe Europe,” he said. For his part, President Zelensky expressed gratitude to Poland for its support and positively assessed the decision of European leaders to provide financial assistance to Ukraine.

The context of Tusk’s remarks was the recent discussion on the topic of gratitude when Polish leaders expressed a desire to see more recognition from Ukraine. These comments appeared amid a discussion in Polish society regarding mutual symmetry of gratitude.

In summary, the meeting between the politicians was an important step in strengthening cooperation between the two countries amid a complex geopolitical situation in the region.
