The State Bureau of Investigations found no illegal influence in the “Midas” case, investigation continues
The State Bureau of Investigations reported the absence of evidence of illegal influence or pressure on its employees in the context of the “Midas” case. The preliminary investigation did not reveal any violations, but procedural actions continue.
The State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) informed that it found no evidence of illegal influence on its employees in the investigation of the “Midas” case, which involves large-scale corruption schemes in the energy sector. Reports of possible bribery or abuse of power circulated in the media were not confirmed during the preliminary check.
The investigation, initiated on November 14 at the initiative of the SBI director, touched upon the possible receipt of undue benefits and abuse of official authority. As of November 22, more than 30 people were interviewed, 12 photo identifications were conducted, and 19 requests concerning the case were sent.
Information published in the media claimed that some SBI employees could have received a bribe for access to NABU investigations regarding the “Midas” case. It was also mentioned in the context of possible pressure on individual officials. However, the SBI did not confirm any actions by its employees in favor of the NABU case figures.
An analysis conducted in the SBI showed that the figures in the “Midas” case tried to gain access to investigative bodies, but no evidence of influence or agreements was found. The investigation continues, and additional investigative actions will be conducted to conclusively refute or confirm the information that continues to appear in the media.
The cases around the SBI have been actively discussed following the resignation of SAP prosecutor Andriy Syniuk, which is suspected to have been caused by a data leak related to the “Midas” case.
